<h2><span style="text-decoration: underline">For 6-9 Years Old</span></h2>
<p>LEGO® Fungineering &#8211; Young budding engineers love this &#8220;hands-on, minds-on&#8221; program. Concepts of simple machines such as gears, pulleys, levers and wheels are introduced through a series of activity-card LEGO building projects.  With the use of motors and electrical controls, the models come alive right before their eyes!</p>
<p>Intro 2 LEGO® Robotics &#8211; Students are introduced to building and programming robots using the LEGO® Mindstorms™ Robotics RCX Invention System.  In small teams, campers learn mechanical design, construction, programming and teamwork skills using LEGO® blocks, motors and sensors.  Campers will use a computer to teach their robot to move, react, and make sounds in order to solve challenges.  It’s learning but it&#8217;s FUN!<br />

<p>LEGO® Robotics &#8211; With the push of a button electromechanical wonders are unleashed.  ROBOTS!  Students experience the thrill of mastering basic concepts in robotics, computer programming, and mechanical design while solving a challenging problem.  This year’s challenges themes include: SPACE, Wilderness and Oceans.</p>
<p>LEGO® Animation &#8211; In one week, students will build their own mini movie set and create their own animated movie using provided LEGO® mini figures or other objects you bring or make! S tudents use a computer and video camera to make their animated movie using stop-motion techniques.  Students will edit their movie and add exciting sound effects, music, narration and titles with the software provided.</p>

Wear hair up or otherwise pulled back off the face. Ms. Arellano is a decorated high school and college cheerleader with over 20 years of experience!</p>
<p><em><span style="color: #ff0000">$30 of the total fee for each week is due at the time of registration as a nonrefundable deposit. All camp registrations begin at 7:00 a.m. on March 29 for residents and at 7:00 a.m. on March 30 for nonresidents!</span></em></p>
<p><strong>Each camp course is one week long, Monday through Friday (9:00 a.m &#8211; 3:00 p.m.), unless specified.</strong></p>

<p><strong>For ages 12-17.</strong></p>
<p>Adventure Camp is a unique opportunity for youth to be exposed to outdoor adventure activities and challenges in a fun, safe, and healthy environment. Each session will offer campers opportunities to learn life-long recreation skills and promote the positive use of free time. Our program will provide outdoor experiences that will help youth to gain self-confidence, responsibility, self-awareness, problem-solving and decision making skills.</p>
<p><span style="color: #339966"><strong>Registration</strong></span></p>

<p>Parents will be required to complete a  <a href="http://files.georgetown.org/files/2009/03/Summer-Registration-Form.pdf">Summer 2010 Registration Form</a> before attending camp. A $30 non-refundable deposit is required for registration. The balance must be paid in full one week prior to the start of the session. Registration is limited to 12 participants per session on a first to register basis.</p>
<p><span style="color: #339966"><strong>Session 1: River Runner (New!), June 7-16</strong></span></p>
<p>Learn what it takes to paddle in our local rivers and whitewater streams.  Participants will learn how to both canoe and kayak.  Students will also receive instruction in self-rescue and river reading. We will spend the first week on our challenge course and making day trips to surrounding area rivers and whitewater streams.  The second week we&#8217;ll spend kayaking and camping along a Hill Country whitewater river or rivers.  All rivers and destinations depend on seasonal rains and water flows.  Even though participants will wear life jackets, good swimming skills are highly recommended.</p>
<p>Fee: $300 Resident; $325 Nonresident</p>
<p><span style="color: #339966"><strong>Session 2: Arkansas Travel Camp, June 23-30 </strong></span></p>
<p>We’re traveling to the Ouachita Mountains and the crystal clear waters of Lake Ouachita in Arkansas. Adventures will include rock climbing at Robber&#8217;s Cave State Park, caving at Devil’s Den State Park, canoeing on the Caddo River, overnight canoe camping trip to island on Lake Ouachita, snorkeling on Lake Ouachita, and horseback riding near Lake Ouachita.</p>
<p>Fee: $350 Resident; $375 Nonresident</p>
<p><span style="color: #339966"><strong>Session 3: Colorado Travel Camp, July 9-17</strong></span></p>
<p>This year we’re heading to Central Colorado for nine days of outdoor activities. Adventures include horseback riding in the Pikes National Forest, rock climbing at Eleven Mile Canyon, backpacking in the Sangre De Cristo Wilderness, and whitewater rafting on the Arkansas River.</p>
<p>Fee: $400 Resident; $425 Nonresident</p>
<p><span style="color: #339966"><strong>Session 4: Extreme Water Sports, July 26-August4 </strong></span></p>
<p>If you like staying cool in the hot summer, then this is the session for you. The first week we&#8217;ll spend making day trips which include our challenge course, whitewater kayaking, snorkeling, wake boarding, and sailing.  The second week we&#8217;ll travel to North Padre Island for some beach kayaking and wind surfing.</p>
<p>Fee: $350 Resident; $375 Nonresident</p>
<p><strong>Who May Participate</strong></p>
<p>Summer adventure camp is open to all young people between the ages of 12 and 17. Youth who turn 12 before the start of the enrolled session and who do not turn 18 before the start of the enrolled session are eligible. Campers should be able to function effectively with their peers; be able to understand and follow through with basic instructions; be physically able to hike moderate distances and be willing to work and learn in a group setting.  Parents, please note these camps are physically and mentally demaning. Please assess your child&#8217;s ability before signing them up.</p>
<p><strong>Program</strong></p>
<p>All camps will run out of the Georgetown Teen Center located at 1003 N. Austin Ave.</p>
<p>The <strong>River Runner</strong> and <strong>Extreme Water Sports</strong> camps will include five days of day adventures and a 3 day overnight camping experience.  These camps will include team building on our Challenge Course and daily snacks. The daily programming for the first week will run from 9 a.m. until 5 p.m. (Some days may be extended). Campers who need early drop off and late pick-up will be able to exercise Teen Center membership privileges before and after camp hours. They will be required to sign-in and out at the Teen Center Front Desk and follow all facility rules.</p>
<p>The <strong>Arkansas</strong> and <strong>Colorado Travel camps</strong> will consist of various adventure activities, overnight primitive camping, two nights of cabin/hotel lodging, and a service project.  Participants will be out of state for an eight or nine day period.</p>
<p><strong>Orientation Meeting</strong></p>
<p>Parents/guardians and campers should attend a mandatory orientation meeting on Tuesday, June 1st from 7:00-9:00 p.m. in the Community Room of the Parks &amp; Recreation Administration Building (1101 N. College St.). You will receive a parent information packet, be informed on critical logistics,  be sized for technical equipment, and meet the Adventure Staff. Please make every effort to attend this meeting.</p>
<p><strong>Camper Equipment</strong></p>
<p>The adventure program will provide technical and camping equipment necessary for adventure activities. Personal clothing and items will be discussed at the orientation meeting. Registration fees include meals prepared while camping.  Participants will be responsible for meals while traveling ($30-$100 depending on session).</p>
<p><strong>Cancellation Policy</strong><br />
• Departmental cancellations- 100% credit or refund<br />
• Client cancellation (7+ days in advance)- credit or refund money minus the $30 non-refundable deposit<br />
• Client cancellation (within 7 days)- no credit or refund<br />
• Inclement weather- programming will be held indoors.</p>
